We’ve all heard that the supply chain concerns are causing significant production delays. Unfortunately, we see some of the most considerable delays the industry has ever seen when it comes to home remodels. Let’s look at why this is happening and what you should know going into a remodel of your own.
Demand has been relatively predictable in the past, and there haven’t been any significant capacity problems. With the pandemic came tremendous shifts in the supply chain, causing shortages all over. Two of the significant reasons we face such significant issues are demand exceeding supply and the lack of redundancy in the supply chain.
Currently, costs for everything are going up. Part of this is due to a shortage in the workforce, which can be seen from every angle of the supply chain. Naturally, when demand exceeds supply, there are disruptions in the supply chain.
Supply chains require redundancy to support weak spots and prevent slowdowns or shutdowns. Unfortunately, in the current economy, the supply chain lacks redundancy. As a result, we see supply chain issues and production delays like never before.
People have no idea how long lead times are on things and think they could get a project started right away to finish by the summer. In the current market, this is virtually impossible. Sadly, this issue is occurring not only with our company but across the board.
There are several also contributions that are causing extended lead times on projects, that include:
Right now, a lot of lead times are exceeding 4-6 months plus. Some appliances are at least 12 months out!
