Founder and President of Zieba Builders, Joe studied architecture and engineering at the University of Maryland where he received his B.S. Degree with honors in engineering in 1984. Joe worked as a civil engineer, contracted by the Department of Defense, for several years on a small atoll in the South Pacific. In 1988, Joe decided to leave engineering behind and relocate to Southern California to pursue his own company as a general contractor.
Zieba Builders was founded with a commitment to exceptional service, accountability, and craftsmanship. Joe built a network of industry experts, in both design and build, with a shared passion for perfection and precision to meet the demands of his growing general contractor business. Many of these early partners maintain a professional relationship with Joe and the Zieba Builders team today. Joe can still be found working in the field hands-on with skilled carpentry work and an eye for design and detail.
When not working on ZBI’s projects, Joe enjoys the company of his wife and two children. They spend evenings and weekends in the great outdoors, whether it be hiking, camping, sailing or wake-boarding. Joe also loves attending the kids’ sporting events and entertaining friends and family with a delicious BBQ feast in their backyard. Occasionally, he even does a little project or two for himself.

From an early age, Kelly has had a passion for architectural design. Some of her earliest childhood memories involve visiting famous buildings and museums, marveling at the creativity and ingenuity of structure and space. This enthusiasm led her to pursue a design-based career.
Kelly studied architectural design and visual design at Cal State University Long Beach, receiving her B.A. in Design with honors. She mastered her CAD drafting skills working for an engineering firm prior to joining the Zieba Builders team in 2011. Kelly puts her creative talents to work designing award winning projects, earning her the Accredited Kitchen and Bath Certificate through the NKBA. Kelly’s designs incorporate market research, spatial development, beautiful graphic presentations, construction and architectural plan presentations and a keen sense of product selection whereby she communicates effectively with the clients to ensure complete satisfaction. Her designs have helped ZBI to earn the prestigious Houzz Design Award in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
When she is not busy designing projects for Zieba Builders, you can often find Kelly at vintage flea markets, refurbishing old furniture, spending a weekend wine tasting with her husband, or enjoying a relaxing day at the beach.
Angelika has always had an admiration for real estate, design and construction. She grew up with parents who loved flipping homes, with her father being a general contractor and doing all of the work himself. They would go to open houses and spend time planning renovations for the new homes. This grew into a long term passion for Angelika and she decided to gain some further experience by attending interior design school where she was able to hone in on her ability to think creatively and outside the box, while remaining detail oriented. After starting a job in the real estate finance industry, Angelika found that her skill set was in office operations. As an avid Long Beach citizen when Angelika heard that Zieba Builders needed a new Office Manager, it seemed like a match made in heaven. Here was a company who had the vision and experience that Angelika grew up loving, with an open position made for her.
In her free time, Angelika enjoys cooking meals with her family, spending time outside and in the water, whether swimming or kayaking, and skiing in the winter. She can also be found attending open houses and garage sales, or working with her mom on their home based craft business.
Joshua has had a fascination for the arts and drawing since early childhood. His passion grew as he developed his interests in design and learning how things function. This launched him into a geared focus on architectural design and development, with a high desire for sustainable engineering. Throughout his career path, Joshua has spent a lot of time in project management, where he is able to envision the entire project and put in place best practices to achieve efficiency. He brings his expertise to the Zieba Builders team as our project coordinator.
Joshua strongly believes that renewable energy is critical for future developments and he is constantly seeking means to minimize the carbon footprint. He is currently pursuing a B.S. Degree in Architectural engineering in Fullerton. He is also the Vice President of the Fullerton Architecture Club and an Alpha Gama Sigma Honor Society Kappa Chapter member.
When he’s not actively seeking means to better our environment, Joshua enjoys the great outdoors, spending time backpacking international destinations, reading, sketching, cooking and analyzing the architecture around him.
Rob’s love of woodwork started at the early age of five years old. His parents set out to build a sixty-foot schooner, eventually becoming a place to call home. During this period, his father taught him how to craft all the teak plugs for the ships flooring on a drill press, and from then on Rob and his brother found themselves sanding and varnishing alongside their father. As Rob got older, in high school he joined wood shop continuing his love for wood working and building boat related projects. In his late teens while working in a marine store, a gentleman he was teaching to sail, in turn taught him his profession of installing staircases. From then on he has been perfecting his master carpentry skills for the last 25 years.
Rob has been working with Zieba Builders for over 10 years, and in 2018 he officially joined the crew full-time. He is an expert craftsman carpenter installing all our fine craft wood detailing, from wainscot to stairwells to trim.
When not on the jobsite, you will find Rob on the water. With over a thousand hours spent on a boat, sailing is definitely Rob’s passion; a true Long Beach sailor.
Zieba Builders first met Robert in 2018 working alongside his uncle on one of Zieba’s jobsites. Admiring his drive and work ethic, Zieba brought him on board full time. Since then, he has honed in on skills including, framing, siding, and electrical. He finds passion by learning how to be efficient and most importantly working as a team. His favorite part of working with the Zieba crew, is soaking in all the knowledge he can, giving him a sense of pride that he is part of the Zieba Builders team. In the future Robert see’s himself becoming a master carpenter, teaching what he learned from all his experiences at Zieba.
Family is extremely important to Robert and helping others in his community that helped him along as a youth. In his free time Robert can be found taking trips, hunting and fishing with his family.
Guillermo began his career in the remodeling industry while studying at Long Beach City College through an apprenticeship program. He joined the Union to further his knowledge but it was in 2018 when he came to Zieba Builders that he really was able to learn the fundamentals of residential construction. Guillermo has a passion to see the project from start to finish; from digging the first footing to handing the keys over to the homeowner, there is nothing more rewarding.
Guillermo would like to go far with Zieba Builders, soaking up as much information as he can and one day becoming superintendent. He aspires to teach and give back the knowledge he has learned from his fellow peers.
On the weekend Guillermo loves to spend his time with his wife and son, spending quality time traveling and taking hiking trips. Photography is one of Guillermo’s passions, and loves capturing family moments.
Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.
