Joe Zieba
Founder and President of Zieba Builders, Joe studied architecture and engineering at the University of Maryland where he received his B.S. Degree with honors in engineering in 1984. Joe worked as a civil engineer, contracted by the Department of Defense, for several years on a small atoll in the South Pacific. In 1988, Joe decided to leave engineering behind and relocate to Southern California to pursue his own company as a general contractor.
Zieba Builders was founded with a commitment to exceptional service, accountability, and craftsmanship. Joe built a network of industry experts, in both design and build, with a shared passion for perfection and precision to meet the demands of his growing general contractor business. Many of these early partners maintain a professional relationship with Joe and the Zieba Builders team today. Joe can still be found working in the field hands-on with skilled carpentry work and an eye for design and detail.
When not working on ZBI’s projects, Joe enjoys the company of his wife and two children. They spend evenings and weekends in the great outdoors, whether it be hiking, camping, sailing or wake-boarding. Joe also loves attending the kids’ sporting events and entertaining friends and family with a delicious BBQ feast in their backyard. Occasionally, he even does a little project or two for himself.
Karen Zieba
With over 20 years of award-winning experience in consultative sales, Karen is an integral part of the Zieba Builders' reputation and growth. Karen credits her success to professional integrity, commitment to discovery, establishing realistic expectations and putting the clients’ needs first.
Karen’s commitment to excellence in the home remodeling industry extends into her active service in the design-build community. She has served 6 years on the Board of Directors for the Remodeler’s Council of the Building Industry Association of Southern California, including 2 years as President where she earned the prestigious Industry Icon Award. She has also served several years as Trustee to the Board of Directors for the National Association of Home Builders/Remodelers, earning the Distinguished Service Award for Leadership.
In her free time, Karen loves the outdoors and nature, especially hiking and camping in the mountains. She also enjoys attending her children’s sporting events and being an active member of the Long Beach community. When she has a few minutes of quiet, Karen can be found relaxing in her self-designed backyard retreat reading a good book.
Jennifer Miller
Jennifer has always loved working with interior design. By managing service industry businesses for Owners, she worked with many designers and builders. Jennifer loves overseeing projects beginning with the dream, into the planning stage, and then through to completion. She has a passion for learning and had the opportunity to be mentored by previous business Owners. The favorite aspects of her job are working with the clients as well as organizing the behind-the-scenes operations. Her goal is to have every employee’s day go as smoothly as possible, therefore ensuring every Client's experience can go smoothly as well. She moved to Long Beach, CA from Washington State a year ago. She is overjoyed to be living in the Sunshine State and to be a part of this wonderful community.
Jennifer’s hobbies are going to the beach, hiking, riding her bike, gardening, working on crafting projects, and spending time with her son.
Bill Dellinger
Design Director of Zieba Builders, Bill, comes with 28 years of experience in the high-end, luxury kitchen and bath industry. Bill has seen and done it all; from manufacturing engineering for a large, luxury custom cabinetry manufacturer to project management and design for well-respected, high-end kitchen and bath design studios in Los Angeles and Orange County. Through his experience, Bill gained vast experience and perspective from collaborating with Los Angeles’ top architects, designers, and builders.
For Bill, the best part of the job is space planning and reconfiguring a home. He finds joy in these puzzles, discovering an unexpected solution while honoring the original architectural design and staying on budget. Bill also enjoys hands-on work and the experience from woodworking and construction. Innovative design is often the solution to a problem, which intrigues Bill in his daily work.
When Bill isn’t busy designing projects for Zieba Builders, you can find him working on a handful of woodworking projects of his own. Otherwise, he enjoys spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking.
Darren Clay
The son of a master stair builder and carpenter, Darren was exposed to his father’s profession early on. Inspired by the artistic projects he saw on job sites and knowing the passion, skill, and hard work required, he caught the bug for carpentry early on.
Thoroughly impressed, Darren started working along-side and learning from his father as a teen, building high-end staircases in West LA. The nature of these projects in luxury homes further taught him extreme attention to detail and the value of hard work, as well as allowing him to sharpen his skill and hone his fine craftsmanship.
What Darren loves most about his trade is the creative aspect: the joy of building beautiful pieces with his hands, being able to stand back and admire the fruit of his labor, and constantly improving and furthering his skill on every project. When he met Joe and saw his skillful craftsmanship, it was clear Darren would be a great fit here at Zieba. Learning and constantly expanding his craft is what motivates him every day!
Eventually, Darren’s goal is to be a general contractor himself. Until then, when he is not creating beautiful pieces of art from scratch, he unwinds by playing music, snowboarding, and sailing!
Mauro Martinez
Mauro is one of our fantastic Laborers. He loves to help in every way but especially with building. He recently made a job change because he wanted a big change and chose the remodeling industry. We are so happy he did! His work ethic and attitude are very impressive. He is a people person that wants to contribute to making our client's dreams come true.
Mauro moved to California 30 years ago. Away from work he enjoys spending time with his friends, working on abstract art projects, and gardening.
